Power Generation & Turbine Control for Oil Fields
Engineering and on-site supervision of the automation and control systems that keep turbine-driven power generation running at oil wells, well pads and production facilities.
Reliable power where the grid does not reach
Power generation for oil wells and remote production sites
Oil wells, well pads and gathering facilities often depend on their own power plant. Gas turbines and gas-engine generator sets running on field gas feed artificial lift systems, ESP pumps, compressors, water injection and the control systems themselves. When generation trips, production stops.
IST Netgroup supports operators and EPC contractors beyond engineering: we supervise the automation and control processes of electrical power generation turbines from design review to start-up and stable operation. Our team bridges electrical engineering, control systems and field execution, so the plant, the protection scheme and the control logic work as one system.
What we do

How we supervise a turbine control project
01
Assess
Site survey, existing generation and loads, control architecture and the operator’s reliability targets.
02
Review the design
Control philosophy, cause-and-effect matrices, protection settings and communication architecture.
03
Verify at the factory
Factory acceptance tests of turbine control and switchgear panels before shipment.
04
Supervise installation
Cabling, terminations, grounding and network installation checked against the approved design.
05
Commission
Loop checks, functional tests, synchronization, load sharing and load acceptance tests on site.
06
Hand over & support
Documentation, training and remote support during the first months of operation.
Hybrid power for well pads
Combining gas-fired generation with renewables reduces fuel consumption, flaring and maintenance hours while keeping the reliability production needs.
Gas-fired generation
- Gas turbines and gas-engine gensets running on associated or field gas
- N+1 configurations for critical loads
- Integration with gas conditioning and fuel systems
Solar PV & storage
- Solar PV sized for daytime base load
- Battery energy storage (BESS) for spinning reserve and peak shaving
- Engineering, supply and commissioning of PV + BESS
Microgrid control
- Power management system for islanded operation
- Automatic load shedding and black-start sequences
- Remote monitoring of every source and feeder
Why operators and EPCs work with us
- One team for electrical engineering, automation and field supervision — fewer interfaces between contractors.
- Multi-vendor experience: we work with the turbine, PLC and SCADA platforms specified by the owner.
- Focus on availability: protection, control and power management reviewed together, not in isolation.
- International procurement of control components, spares and long-lead items for the same project.
- Experience in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply the turbines?
We focus on engineering, automation and control supervision, commissioning and the supply of electrical, control and instrumentation equipment. Turbines and gensets are supplied by the OEM or the EPC; we integrate and supervise their control systems.
Can you work with an existing power plant?
Yes. We review existing control and protection schemes, diagnose recurring trips and upgrade obsolete control components, PLCs and HMIs.
Do you work on site?
Yes. We supervise FAT, installation, commissioning and start-up on site, and provide remote support during operation.
Can hybrid power be added to a gas-fired well pad?
Yes. We assess the load profile and design the PV, storage and power management system needed to integrate them with the existing generation.
